As beautiful soft summer light illuminates this scene, NS 825 growls uphill with two GE
's struggling to keep the heavy hopper train rolling at a decent speed.

Two EMD's spit out the exhaust as they round a tight turn in Christiansburg, Virginia passing the Pelton color position light signals.

With the end of the day drawing near, NS 272 parades uphill underneath the classic N&W coaling tower at Vicker, Virginia with a single Dash-8 widecab doing the honors.

The surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains provide a magnificent backdrop, as NS V38 climbs Christiansburg Mountain, while traversing an S curve, with a pair of SD40-2's commanding the train in beautiful afternoon light.

Light engines roll through Wabun, Virginia as they head west toward Bluefield and points beyond.

With older power on the head end, NS 820 drifts downhill through Oakvale, West Virginia with a long coal drag bound for Norfolk.

Under a 10 MPH slow order, NS 820 creeps through Glen Lyn, Virginia behind older power on a dark and dreary evening.

On a beautiful Spring day, NS 821 charges uphill through Ingleside, West Virginia splitting the attractive N&W CPL's while en-route to Bluefield.
